Janet Edwards in Pittsburgh Presbytery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past fall I was following a case in the PJC of Pittsburgh Presbytery where the Rev. Janet Edwards was accused of conducting a wedding for two women.&nbsp; (My previous posts of&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.gajunkie.com\/?p=1135\">Sept. 18<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.gajunkie.com\/?p=1091\">Nov. 15<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.gajunkie.com\/?p=1070\">Dec. 11<\/a>)&nbsp; The charges again the Rev. Edwards were dismissed because the investigating committee filed the charges four days late.<\/p>\n<p>It was <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.gajunkie.com\/?p=1070\">announced and expected<\/a> that the complaint would be re-filed and late last week the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.villagepresbyterian.com\/apps\/staff\/bio.asp?relid=276725\" target=\"_blank\">Rev. James Yearsley<\/a> did so.&nbsp; The original complaint was by Rev. Yearsley alone; the new complaint is also signed by seven additional ministers and six elders.&nbsp; It is interesting to note that of the fourteen individuals signing the complaint, only Elder Robert Gagnon is currently in Pittsburgh Presbytery.&nbsp; And of the signers of the complaint two are recognizable names in the Presbyterian commentator community:&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.robgagnon.net\/ArticlesOnline.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Gagnon<\/a> and the Rev. Toby Brown (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.classicalpresbyterian.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">A Classical Presbyterian<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The PC(USA) New Service has issued a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcusa.org\/pcnews\/2007\/07119.htm\" target=\"_blank\">press release<\/a> on the developments as well as some coverage in the popular media, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.post-gazette.com\/pg\/07062\/766551-85.stm\" target=\"_blank\">Pittsburgh Post Gazette<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A new investigating committee will be formed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past fall I was following a case in the PJC of Pittsburgh Presbytery where the Rev.
