The Assembly convenes at 7:00 PM local time today, 2 June, and runs through Thursday 5 June.&nbsp; Some items to help you follow along.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Assembly will be live streamed with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.presbyterianireland.org\/Training-Events\/Events\/2014-General-Assembly\" target=\"_blank\">viewer on the main Assembly Page<\/a>. (Update: My browser is having problems with the embedded viewer and I am watching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sxPGivIV5oU&amp;list=PLFPWJLwnGBGrSPdM88mTZDTmoc0eP5vHz\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">straight through You Tube<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The theme for the Assembly is &#8220;A People of Service and Outreach&#8221; and among other places, it will be highlighted in the worship on Wednesday evening.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The business of the Assembly can be found on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.presbyterianireland.org\/Resources\/General-Assembly\/General-Assembly-2014\/2014-Assembly-Reports?ID=5898\" target=\"_blank\">Reports page<\/a>.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The polity documents include the main document, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.presbyterianireland.org\/getmedia\/55e57773-d74e-4381-8f16-1fe79060d24e\/The_Code_121031.pdf.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">The Code<\/a>, as well as the helpful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.presbyterianireland.org\/Resources\/General-Assembly\/General-Assembly-2014\/A-Guide-to-Assembly-Procedure?ID=4224\" target=\"_blank\">A Guide to Assembly Procedure<\/a>. <\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.presbyterianireland.org\/News\">News page<\/a> will carry official press releases and news items including the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.presbyterianireland.org\/News\/Article\/May-2014\/General-Assembly-Back-in-Belfast\">pre-Assembly press release<\/a> which contains a rundown of the major moments at the Assembly this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>\nThere are plenty of social media contact points for the Assembly, beginning with the official Twitter account <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/pciassembly\" target=\"_blank\">@PCIAssembly<\/a> which in the past has provided a very helpful and comprehensive news feed on the actions of the Assembly. The outgoing Moderator, Rev. Dr. Rob Craig, has been tweeting at <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/pcimoderator\" target=\"_blank\">@PCIModerator<\/a>. We will see if the new Moderator, the Rev. Dr. Michael Barry, assumes the account. (And look for Mr. Craig on his personal account <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/robcraig54\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">@RobCraig54<\/a>) The official hashtag for the Assembly is <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/pciga14?src=hash\" target=\"_blank\">#pciga14<\/a> but the church has been promoting the hashtag <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/lifeinpci?src=hash\">#lifeinpci<\/a> for dialogue and sharing about the life and work of the church.<\/p>\n<p>Others to watch for interesting and useful updates include Alan in Belfast (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/alaninbelfast\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">@alaninbelfast<\/a>), William Crawley (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/williamcrawley\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">@williamcrawley<\/a>) of the BBC Northern Ireland and I will add Rebecca McConnell (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/purplerainpr\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">@PurpleRainPR<\/a>). <strike>If you want an account with a little more, shall I say, bight, you can find some humor, satire and parody mixed with a bit of serious commentary at Presbyterian Ireland (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/pres_church\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">@pres_church<\/a>).<\/strike> UPDATE: Missed the announcement of the end of this account &#8211; see <a href=\"http:\/\/presbyterianireland.tumblr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">their announcement<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/alaninbelfast.blogspot.co.uk\/2014\/06\/parody-account-preschurch-hang-up-their.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Alan in Belfast<\/a> for more.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I want to highlight PCI SPUD (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/pcispud\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">@pcispud<\/a>), the <a href=\"http:\/\/pciyac.org\/events\/spud\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Youth Assembly<\/a> of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. In addition to their report to the Assembly, they will have a SPUD Space in the Assembly building where they will be hosing their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.presbyterianireland.org\/Training-Events\/Events\/SPUD-Assembly-Fringe?eventType=2\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Fringe Event<\/a>. In addition to being a conversation space, it will include events on Wednesday and Thursday and prayer space and prayer boards. I will be watching their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/PCI-SPUD-Youth-Assembly\/163986447015092\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Facebook page<\/a> for updates and to see how this new initiative develops.<\/p>\n<p>So our prayers are with the Assembly this week and Moderator Barry.
