The Assembly will run from today ( 30 May ) through Monday 2 June, 2014. The meeting is being held in Waterloo and Kitchener, Ontario, with business meetings and most activities at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wlu.ca\/\">Wilfrid Laurier University<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is <font><a href=\"http:\/\/new.livestream.com\/the-Presbyterian-Church-in-Canada\/pccgeneralassembly2014\" target=\"_blank\">live streaming<\/a><\/font> of the Assembly meetings<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/presbyterian.ca\/?wpdmdl=1057\" target=\"_blank\">Book of Reports<\/a> can be downloaded and the daily schedule is found on the 12th page of the packet.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/presbyterian.ca\/ga2014\/#changes-to-updated-book-of-reports\" target=\"_blank\">Changes and updates are posted on the GA 2014 web page<\/a><\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Official news updates are available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/presbyterian.ca\/category\/news\/\" target=\"_blank\">news feed<\/a> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>The Assembly can be followed on social media through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pcconnect\" target=\"_blank\">PCConnect Facebook page<\/a> and through their official Twitter feed <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/pcconnect\" target=\"_blank\">@PCConnect<\/a>. The hastag for the meeting is <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ga140?src=hash\" target=\"_blank\">#ga140<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The official publication, the <a href=\"http:\/\/presbyterianrecord.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Presbyterian Record<\/a>, is posting updates on their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/PresbyterianRecord\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the first few minutes of the Assembly on Twitter I would suggest following Knox College (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/knoxcollegeca\" target=\"_blank\">@KnoxCollegeCA<\/a>), Jeff Loach (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/passionatelyhis\" target=\"_blank\">@passionatelyhis<\/a>) and Matt Brough (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/mbrough\" target=\"_blank\">@mbrough<\/a>) for live updates. And I would expect comments from John Borthwick (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/jborthwik\">@jborthwik<\/a>) although he is not at the meeting.\n<\/td>\n<td><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/images.quickblogcast.com\/16461-15728\/GA_2014_Logo_300x225.jpg?w=625\" style=\"border: 0px solid;\"> <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>\nA couple interesting items from about this Assembly I would like to highlight.<\/p>\n<p>First, they have a program I don&#8217;t remember seeing before in any Assembly and that is a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/presbyterian.ca\/2014\/05\/28\/first-time-commissioners-ga-mentors\/\">mentoring program for first time commissioners<\/a>. This program, arranged by the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eldersinstitute.ca\">Elders Institute<\/a>, has designated tables that commissioners can sit at with an experienced teaching or ruling elder at the table to answer questions.<\/p>\n<p>Another important event will be the commemoration on Saturday morning of the 20th anniversary of the church&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/presbyterian.ca\/?wpdmdl=92&amp;\">Confession of 1994<\/a> to &#8220;God and Aboriginal peoples for its involvement in the Indian Residential School system.&#8221; The event will include a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/presbyterian.ca\/2014\/05\/26\/phil-fontaine-ga2014\/\">keynote address by Phil Fontaine<\/a> who received the confession in 1994 as grand chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs. He has since served as the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations. His address is scheduled for 11 am Eastern Time.<\/p>\n<p>Best wishes and prayers to the Assembly and the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/presbyterian.ca\/2014\/04\/01\/moderator-nomination-for-the-140th-general-assembly-2\/\">Moderator, the Rev.
