{"id":337,"date":"2010-12-24T15:03:00","date_gmt":"2010-12-24T23:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.gajunkie.com\/?p=337"},"modified":"2010-12-24T15:03:00","modified_gmt":"2010-12-24T23:03:00","slug":"theft-leaves-the-church-of-scotland-with-out-a-symbol-of-the-moderator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.gajunkie.com\/?p=337","title":{"rendered":"Theft Leaves The Church Of Scotland With Out A Symbol Of The Moderator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every Presbyterian branch that I know of has a particular token passed between Moderators as both a mark of the office and a reminder of those who have held the office and those who will hold it in the future.&nbsp; For some it is a service cross, for others a stole.&nbsp; For the the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.churchofscotland.org.uk\/generalassembly\/index.htm\">General Assembly<\/a>  of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.churchofscotland.org.uk\">Church of Scotland<\/a>  these symbols include a ceremonial ring.<\/p>\n<p>Last night that ring was among the items stolen from the home of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.churchofscotland.org.uk\/generalassembly\/gamoderator.htm\">current Moderator of the Church of Scotland, the Rt. Rev. John Christie<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/hostednews\/ukpress\/article\/ALeqM5gs-pBDPdm1w9hF7aBLMUutuaWntA?docId=N0324621293195829330A\">press<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.helensburghadvertiser.co.uk\/news\/roundup\/articles\/2010\/12\/24\/408601-kirk-moderators-gold-ring-stolen-in-helensburgh\/\">reports<\/a>  confirm that the ring was among the items taken in an overnight break-in while Rev.
