Business sessions convene Wednesday afternoon, 23 June, and will continue through Friday afternoon, as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to local capacity restrictions and COVID-19 protocols, the facility has a capacity for 400 commissioners, so the GA will be a <a href=\"https:\/\/epconnection.org\/2021\/02\/04\/41st-general-assembly-to-be-hybrid-virtual-on-site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hybrid event<\/a> with both on-site and virtual participants. The Assembly will make the necessary adjustments to the <a href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Files\/2-What-We-Do\/2-General-Assembly-Meeting\/2021\/OtherDocuments\/41GADocument-RulesForAssembly.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rules for Assembly<\/a> to facilitate the arrangement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Assembly meeting will be&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/ga\/ga2021livestream\/\" target=\"_blank\">live-streamed<\/a> on the web and through the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/ga\/ga2021\/#app\" target=\"_blank\">General Assembly app<\/a>. This will include not just the business sessions but the plenary talks of the <a href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/ga\/ga2021leadershipinstitute\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leadership Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a lot of information online, most linked through the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/ga\/ga2021documents\/\" target=\"_blank\">Documents page<\/a> and the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/ga\/ga2021\/\" target=\"_blank\">GA 2021 page<\/a>. Here are some of the links for information about Assembly business and operation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>There are the <a href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/ga\/ga2021schedule\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Schedule<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/ga\/ga2021documents\/#dockets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Docket<\/a> (being issued in daily segments) so you know when the business sessions are and what is being covered.<\/li><li>There is also the <a href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/ga\/ga2021documents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Commissioners Handbook<\/a> by parts or as a full download from that page.<\/li><li>Also, keep an eye on the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/epconnection.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">EP Connection News Blog<\/a>&nbsp;for news items from the Assembly.<\/li><li>And don&#8217;t forget the current <a href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Files\/4-Resources\/5-Downloadable-EPC-Resources\/A-Constitution-Doctrine\/BookOfOrder2020-2021.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Book of Order<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Files\/2-What-We-Do\/2-General-Assembly-Meeting\/2021\/OtherDocuments\/41GADocument-RulesForAssembly.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rules for Assembly<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for social media, there is a bit of that out there. There is a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EPChurch\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook page<\/a> for the EPC that is currently being updated regularly with Leadership Institute and Assembly items. The official EPC Twitter feed is <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/epchurch\" target=\"_blank\">@EPChurch<\/a> and the active official hashtag (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/epc2021ga?src=hash\" target=\"_blank\">#epc2021ga<\/a>) has sprung to life. There are other official but inactive Twitter accounts for EPC Student Ministries (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/EPCStudentMin\" target=\"_blank\">@EPCStudentMin<\/a>), EPC World Outreach (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/epcwo\" target=\"_blank\">@EPCWO<\/a>) and the Stated Clerk Jeff Jeremiah (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/Jeff_Jeremiah\" target=\"_blank\">@Jeff_Jeremiah<\/a> ) so not much to follow there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for individuals, based on the lead-up to the GA we can expect coverage from Zach Hopkins (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Zhop59\" target=\"_blank\">@Zhop59<\/a>) and Joey Sherrard (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jhsherrard\" target=\"_blank\">@jhsherrard<\/a>) has checked in as well. There is also activity from a former Moderator Case Thorp (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/casethorp\" target=\"_blank\">@casethorp<\/a>) and my friend Brandon Queen (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BQPHOTOS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">@BQPhotos<\/a>). There is an account from the host church that might provide helpful information (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/2PCMemphis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">@2pcmemphis<\/a>).  And maybe we will see a bit more color and correction from Decent &amp; In Order (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Decent_Orderly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">@Decent_Orderly<\/a>) although he has been quiet since the last EPC GA. I will update you here as the meeting progresses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The theme of the Assembly is &#8220;God Will Restore,&#8221; based on Joel 2:25-27. The theme will be reflected in the <a href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/ga\/ga2021documents\/#worship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">worship services<\/a> throughout the meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a good <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Files\/2-What-We-Do\/2-General-Assembly-Meeting\/2021\/CommissionerHandbook\/2-MattersReceived\/GA41Document-SummaryOfActionItems.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">summary of all the action items<\/a> coming to the Assembly this year. A couple of items of business stand out. One that caught my eye was an <a href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Files\/2-What-We-Do\/2-General-Assembly-Meeting\/2021\/OtherDocuments\/41GADocument-PMAOverture.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">overture from the Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic <\/a>that it be divided into three new presbyteries. Another is a <a href=\"https:\/\/epc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Files\/2-What-We-Do\/2-General-Assembly-Meeting\/2021\/CommitteeReports\/41GAReport-TheologyConnectionalDefinition.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report by the Theology Committee<\/a> that addresses the definition and meaning of the terms &#8220;connectional&#8221; and &#8220;connectionalism.&#8221; The report concludes with this statement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Perhaps the best definition of connectionalism in the EPC can be found in Book of Government 5-6A.
