{"id":556,"date":"2009-08-28T02:59:00","date_gmt":"2009-08-28T09:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.gajunkie.com\/?p=556"},"modified":"2009-08-28T02:59:00","modified_gmt":"2009-08-28T09:59:00","slug":"a-little-liturgical-levity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.gajunkie.com\/?p=556","title":{"rendered":"A Little Liturgical Levity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A quick post to bring you two recent sighting of Liturgical Levity&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The first is from my friend David Gambrell on his blog <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/2samvi14.blogspot.com\/\">Linen Ephod<\/a>.&nbsp; David posts a lot of his own liturgical writing and musings on the blog, but under the tag <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/2samvi14.blogspot.com\/search\/label\/Kitsch\">Kitsch<\/a> he has recently posted pictures of five liturgical objects made of plastic stacking building bricks.&nbsp; You&#8217;ll see what I mean.&nbsp; These are for Saint Oleg&#8217;s Church.&nbsp; I am expecting to see the completed church on the blog at some time in the future.&nbsp; So here is the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/2samvi14.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/saint-oleg-door.html\">Door<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/2samvi14.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/saint-oleg-font.html\">Font<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/2samvi14.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/saint-oleg-pulpit.html\">Pulpit<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/2samvi14.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/saint-oleg-table.html\">Table<\/a>, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/2samvi14.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/saint-oleg-windows.html\">Windows<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And now for something completely different&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>With a hat tip to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/cyberbrethren.com\">Cyberbrethren<\/a>, I have been introduced to the blog <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/badvestments.blogspot.com\/\">Bad Vestments<\/a>.&nbsp; Yes, the name is all you need to know about the blog.&nbsp; Now, I can appreciate &#8220;high church.&#8221;&nbsp; But this is a collection of liturgical garments that just make you sit back and wonder.&nbsp; Remember, liturgical garb was intended to keep from drawing attention to the leader so worshipers could focus on God.&nbsp; You have to admit that some of these certainly do draw attention to the wearer.&nbsp; It does not surprise me <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/badvestments.blogspot.com\/2009\/07\/now-batting-for-tampa-bay-rays.html\">that<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/badvestments.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/this-is-stupid-miter.html\">one<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/badvestments.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/ubuntu-is-xhosa-word-meaning.html\">particular<\/a> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/badvestments.blogspot.com\/2009\/08\/am-i-seeing-things.html\">leader<\/a> appears more than any other on this blog.&nbsp; I thought I commented on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/badvestments.blogspot.com\/2009\/07\/purple-haze-all-in-my-brain.html\">this miter<\/a> when I first saw it a while back but can&#8217;t find it now.<\/p>\n<p>Have fun, and now back to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bpc.org\/news\/?p=123\">pondering GA actions<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A quick post to bring you two recent sighting of Liturgical Levity&#8230;
