{"id":793,"date":"2008-06-20T13:08:00","date_gmt":"2008-06-20T20:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.gajunkie.com\/?p=793"},"modified":"2008-06-20T13:08:00","modified_gmt":"2008-06-20T20:08:00","slug":"the-28th-general-assembly-of-the-evangelical-presbyterian-church","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.gajunkie.com\/?p=793","title":{"rendered":"The 28th General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are now in the midst of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.epc.org\/about-the-epc\/general-assembly\/2008-general-assembly-meeting\/\">28th General Assembly<\/a> of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.epc.org\">Evangelical Presbyterian Church<\/a>, being held in Bethesda, Maryland.&nbsp; By most Presbyterian standards four days is relatively short for a GA.<\/p>\n<p>Since I am currently focusing on another General Assembly that starts tomorrow, and still have two blog entries each to finish from the Church of Scotland, PCA, and my GA 101 series, I&#8217;ll have to play catch-up later on the EPC meeting.&nbsp; However, I don&#8217;t feel too bad doing that since the Rev. David Fischler from <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/reformedpastor.wordpress.com\/\">The Reformed Pastor<\/a> is attending and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/reformedpastor.wordpress.com\/2008\/06\/19\/moving-to-missional\/\">blogging<\/a>.&nbsp; I would also note, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/reformedpastor.wordpress.com\/2008\/06\/19\/roll-call\/\">David confirms<\/a>, that the Rev. Bill Crawford from <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/bayouchristian.blogspot.com\/\">Bayou Christian<\/a> is there as well and I would expect his comments at some point in the future.&nbsp; The event is properly covered.<\/p>\n<p>But some think that the real EPC fireworks will be over at the PC(USA) where an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pc-biz.org\/Explorer.aspx?id=1535\">overture<\/a> makes accusations of &#8220;sheep stealing&#8221; (the polite term the overture uses is &#8220;persuade&#8221; but other stronger terms are being used in private conversation) and some in the PC(USA) want an investigation and cutting formal ties with the EPC.<\/p>\n<p>Blessings on the EPC meeting and I&#8217;ll try to cross-correlate later.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are now in the midst of the 28th General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, being held in Bethesda, Maryland.&nbsp;
